tukod [tú-kud] : support

The tukod is the diagonal strut that supports many structures in traditional Filipino homes. Thus, in Filipino the word tukod refers to an object or person used to support another.

In line with the mission and philosophy of our founder - Architect Francisco Mañosa - the Tukod Foundation aims to support, champion and promote Philippine art and architecture in the country.

Our mission is to make the Filipino proud to be a Filipino -- by uplifting local art and design to a higher standard, and by educating our people - especially the youth - to better appreciate our culture and embrace it as a way of life.

Providing people with a sense of place.

We firmly believe that the proper environment - one well-suited to its surroundings and the life lived in it - can uplift the soul and strengthen the spirit. For this reason, many of our projects involve pro bono work to help improve the physical environment of those in need. Our enduring goal is to provide people with a sense of place, and the pride and dignity that accompany it.

This is particularly true in the case of children, for whom our founder has always had a special place in his heart. We believe that every child has the right to a safe home, filled with the wonder and magic that only comes in childhood.

This is what we, as a family and a company, wish for all children - particularly the abused and deprived... to grow up in safe and happy environments. that shape them into responsible adults with a healthy appreciation of life and beauty, and a strong sense of Filipino identity.
